The Man Who Stayed

The Man Who Stayed

A Poem by Nima.Hope
"

Dedicated to the International Iranian singer, Farhad Mehrad.

"

Once there was a man
Whom they said he had no plan
He lived not for wealth
He lived not for fame
He lived to talk of a pain
The pain of a tired people
The pain which made them vulnerable
He sang to inform human beings
To not fight for foolish material things
He spoke 5 languages to send his message
Many ignored him like a poor in a passage
He sang to convince human for unity
To make an effort to remove the poverty
But poor was him!
The people who ignored thinking
The people who only wanted "drinking"
Found him strange to be listened to
He died while few noticed to
I find it my duty to introduce this John Lennon of my country
I guess if he wasn't Iranian
Many music halls were named after his honesty
And poor my people who are infamous in the world
I wish they gain the respect
Once they had in the world
"Farhad" didn't rift a mountain
To show his care for his people
He stayed with them during the war
He ignored to leave his country and sing for wealth
While the youth of his country
Were falling like leaves

P.S: Farhad playing " I believe to my soul"

This is quite a tribute to a man who did so much for the people yet, received so little. This speaks to many people around the world who perform multiple types of tasks and are rarely acknowledge for their work. We life in a self-absorbed narcissistic society. It's people like you who bring light to those who have done so much. Very nice write my friend. I haven't been on this cite very often for quite a while so have missed so many of the posted poems. I hope to get back at it soon but, life tends to get in the way. Keep up the good work! Temp

This is a very thoughtful tribute to a man who cared deeply about his beliefs, focusing more on the message of peace and harmony than monetary gain. We live sadly in times where money speaks volumes and values aren't given the same attention. Beautifully conveyed Nima. Your message gets through in the most poetic way and it touched me.

How tragic to be banned from singing. May he RIP eternally.
In any country...no matter the language....people often just don't listen to the song of peace and love.
Money and chasing it...presents often a disregard for human life.
the last three lines are so tight and impactful

This is a wonderful tribute Nima. The world is filled with great people that many are unaware of because of cultural differences. We fail to recognize how much more we are alike despite the things that may separate us. Art in its many forms is a universal language defined by it empathy. To know love and sorrow, hope and dream in the many different societies in this world all one needs to do is view their art. It is in that special quality we see our true humanity and what unites us as a species. Thank you Nima for sharing your art in words with us. And also educating us in a remarkable human being and singer named Farhad Mehrad.
