Five Weeks, Six Days

Five Weeks, Six Days

A Poem by Sarah Emily

she sits, dried lips
twitching in time with
the wall-clock's ticking.
eyes, rimmed blue-violet.
red-raw fingertips
plucking buds from the carpet,
too premature to bloom.
