Love-Making

Love-Making

A Poem by Sarah Emily
"

A few lines of this danced in my head as I was trying to sleep one night this summer. Enjoy.

"

My fingertips sink into the soft flesh of her back,
as we meld together into one
our breathing falls into
synchronization.
We leave reality’s fleeting
interpretations
as we flutter above the
clouds and gaze down
at all the infinitely small
creatures below;
the star-crossed lovers
with hands entwined,
the children preparing
to take virginal flight,
the elderly cursing
time wasted in leisure,
and the lonely souls
peering down from the tip-tops
of skyscrapers, seeing all the
same through less hopeful eyes.
Gliding down, we caress,
bodies touching beneath
cool sheets of silk.
Sighs of passion exchanged
between puffs of stale
cigarette smoke,
clouding up our endless skies
choked with stars
begging to be wished upon.
