Cadaver

Cadaver

A Poem by Nikolas

The words come out as my rusty hemoglobin

And build my child of Frankenstein

I have made a donation,

I’ve built stanzas from bones

And tied them together with ligaments.

We have a blood match-

Only I could resurrect it.

Peel off my skin

Candy wrapper

It needs it more than I.

Expose everything, layer by layer

An onion to the core,

Collect the tears, they’re needed too

A collage of the artist

Like shards of mirror reflecting

Everything.

Take my hair too

From brown to silver

Semi-precious stitches.

Fingers to the piano keys,

Eyes to the pencil and paper

Crack open the skull and give up my mind too-

The deconstruction and Renaissance

Of Nick, of life, of art.

I’m scrap metal now-

I’m the acrylic paint and charcoal tips,

The poems and pictures and melodies

Are stamped with my DNA,

The host to my beautiful parasites

That consume like humans.

For the creation of life

The sacrifice only I could give.
