Shadow At RestA Poem by NikolaAvaTwo A.M. My head on your shoulder I listen to your heavy breathing As I sort out the shadows In the corner of our room. I folded and placed them there Before we went to sleep Ready to be worn again tomorrow. I place my hand on your chest And feel its falling and rising. Falling. And rising. Falling. I smell your skin and am reminded Of why I loved you. I don’t know how long I wept But you turned around And grazed your fingers across my cheek. And when you held me You contained everything Even the darkness.
