Why books are great! =) An inventive poem that tells you the joys of a book through a simple rhyming story.

The Joys of a Book

There it is - a book at hand

Read the back to understand

Open it and look inside

A story hoping to confide

Letters words sentences all

So much power and yet so small

It takes you places you haven't been

Shows you things you haven't seen

You travel far with sword at hand

Delicious foods are on demand

Your favourite dreams will come true

And all that you have to do

Is read a book - of your choice

In your mind with your own voice

Fingers walking through the pages

Travel through the different stages

Come night and your hands are frozen

To the book that you have chosen

Trapped after you read the hook

Stuck inside your favourite book

Reach out and switch on the light

Pierce the shadows of the night

As dawn breaks then you will find

The story printed in your mind

I like what you've done with this. It's a little simple in places, and you need to check for grammar particularly - no spelling errors I could find, but it's the little things like that that can really draw the reader out of it and distract them, and they're such easy things to catch. The ending is a little expected but the way you've done it is very nice, and the imagery you use is superb for the purpose. Well done.

Thanks, thats very true. I tried to make it amazing but its seems i never move beyond keeping things simple if i want to provide an obvious theme. I need some practice. I can also see a few little things that seem either irrelevant or out of balance (syllables), i will try to fix these up. Thanks once again for the review Trigorin. Most of the people read it before i edited it and patched it up, so they must have thought it was quite s**t compared to the decent poem it is now =)
