Determining Darkness

Determining Darkness

A Poem by Nikky
"

The night takes it's victims in the shade of the dying day

"

Why is the night more scary than day?

Is it that we convince ourselves or is it that way?

Now I sit, I think, too much

I wish I'd stop obsessing and such

This, that, the other

Oh, save me father or mother

Night pounces on its prey

Prey has no shield because there is no day

Here comes the doubt, here comes me

Am I myself? Who am I? Am I free?

Night, fun when you have a friend

Night, dark and dangerous, no end

Lying in a sheet of gift-wrapped fear

Is this my time? Is it here?
My eyes close but my mind is an open door

Throwing off covers, all while quiet, there's the floor

Telling of your sleepless nights

You, with your fights

Sleep is calling with its voice

A mocking-tone, as if it's your choice

Sleep, let me have you

Sleep, what can I do?

Falling eyes, drifting heart

Yes, time is now, the start

Of the time of prey, end of day

Time is here, night is near
