The Sun

The Sun

A Poem by Nihilus

The sun rises and sets
every day, dawn to dusk.
And I'm down below, heat
beating down on my face,
eyes screwed shut
against the sun in defiance.

The sun rises and sets
every day, dawn to dusk.
And you're down below, heat
beating down on your neck,
head bowed before the sun
in pitiful subservience.

The sun rises and sets
every day, dawn to dusk.
Inexorable in its dedication,
malicious in its intent.
It races across the sky
determined to catch

Me.

The difference between us is that you chase the sun while the sun chases me.

A wonderful description of fear. Irony in such a way that the sun symbolizes hope and light. While this is so, the personal prefers the darkness and this has changed the poem's point of view.

Wonderfully written. The ending line is brilliant.
I enjoyed reading!
