Pearls

Pearls

A Poem by Nihilus

I once met a man named Death-
Wizened in stature and cruel at heart,
The patriarch of the house of Humanity.
He told me he was inevitable and inescapable.
But I, in my arrogance, spat in his face
And told him he was wrong.

Here I stand at the gates of Hell-
I thought they were made of pearls.
