Living the Life

Living the Life

A Poem by Nihilus

The .45's the comfort zone
I don't really know
The bullet draws near
Looking for a space
Looking for a sign,
"I don't live here anymore"
Anecdote or antidote?
Funny story or the Remedy?
Play the disk, set it free
Push the pen, write the note
Do you love me?
Do you know me?
Do you care I'm about to slit my throat?
I guess not, I'll set the knife down.
Random inspiration
Why?
We don't know.
The drunk,
the haggard,
the strange.
Schizophrenic thoughts
tell the real story
the padded room,
the built in window,
the crusading dreams,
pioneering actions.
Now I know what it's like
Living the life,
for what it's worth.
