Laughter

Laughter

A Poem by Casey Ishmael

You hear them laughing
Light and Airy
Not a care in the air

But what follows...
Silence.

Shattering is next
Glass breaking
Heads cracking
Bodies flaring

Cries for help ring
But no one comes
The snow falling.

We foolishly believe all is well when people smile and tell us everything is alright. We don't know the truth though. They go home to a broken home or perhaps they go to a home that breaks them. We simply don't know. It is our job as people to listen for those muffled cries of help so that we may help those in need. Thank you for the beautiful writing. Its message and imagery are powerful.
