Comatose

Comatose

A Poem by K
"

Old

"
I sit and hold the hand of a loved one
On death's doorstep.
The one I loved so dearly,
Reduced to a mere shell.
He's lifeless,
But for the mere whisper of breath.
He is nothing like the one I knew,
And yet I stay by his side.
I can't walk away.
Not while he still lives.
Not while there's a chance
That the man I love will return to me.
