A Story of a MountainA Story by KWriting PromptTall jagged peaks, meant to claim the lives of men and women, With snow the mantle of the majestic rock. Adrenaline has kept me running In this sub zero hellish place. For hell is not hot, but frozen, And I plan to climb to the top and back. I give the gear one last check, , Not wanting my death to be so meaningless. An eagle drifts on the air currents, A good sign to start my climb off with. The reach up, drive the pick, Plant my foot, and start the climb. It's not long before I can't feel my fingers. I'm sure by now,hypothermia is setting in. Confidence starts to wan and I pause to glance upwards, I can't even see the top. Maybe this giant summit will end up claiming my life, Even though it doesn't mean to be a murderer. But, alas, it's fate is set in stone, And foolish people like I, Who are intent on proving our manhood. I'm just a number added to it's silent count. I should have never come.
