A Poem by K

If someone could see into my soul,
I fear they'd see what I'm desperately trying to hide.
All the pain and helplessness I feel,
As I search to find myself in this world.

I'm trying to claw myself out of my grave,
But I only slip further from the light.
No one stops to help,
Because I do not speak.

I die a little more each day,
As I view the strangers on the street as enemies.
I must save myself,
Or be left to die.

So I hide the real me,
Behind a hard exterior.
Smothering myself,
To avoid a plea for help.
