Invitation

A Poem by K
"

Old, Old stuff

"
What if I let you in?
What if I showed you my deepest darkest fears?
Would you laugh and call me a coward?
Or would you quietly accept them as part of me?

What if I let you in?
What if I showed you the scars on my wrist?
Would you draw away and try to get me help?
Or would you be there as a friend during the most trying times?

So many people only see the outermost layer,
The mask I wear to hide myself.
Few have seen the real me,
The one that is slowly fading like a dying ember.

What if I let you in?
What if I barred my soul, my heart to you?
Would you abuse my trust?
Or would you be the one who never leaves my side?

What if I let you in?
What if I begged for you to save me?
Would you turn your back on me?
Or would you be the one to drag me from this darkness?
