What The Comic Books Don't Tell You

What The Comic Books Don't Tell You

A Poem by Aurora .I.
"

I wrote this on the train today!

"
Crash. Bang. Pow
I know the image in your head
Crash. Bang. Pow
It's like those comic books you read as a kid
Crash Bang. Pow
The villain is loosing. The hero is winning
Crash. Bang. Pow
The villain is fleeing. The hero is grinning
Crash. Bang. Pow
But what the comic books don't tell you
Crash. Bang. Pow
Is that your hero doesn't always win
Sometimes it's the villain who gets the last grin
Sometimes your hero gets pushed to the ground
Punched, kicked, thrown out of town
A lot of the time their lost
They don't know what to do
Who to save first- Me or you?
They carry the weight of the world with just one shoulder
It crushes them like a boulder
Though it never shows
Because everyone's wanting answers
Everyone looking to them like some kind of pastor
Waiting reflect their next disaster
Everyone looking for some kind of help
Trying to look for rain in the drought
Not stopping to think for a second
That maybe their hero needs help
We give them such weight to bare
How can they not begin to tare?
Is it because they seemingly don't care?
Is that why we push them so and think that it's fair?
I suppose it's true what they say
We humans are as selfish as can be.
Constantly only focused on our self misery
Not looking at our saviors
With a smile, a glance- some kind of respect
Only put them down
And leave them alone to fend
In this- I'd like to point out the irony
That we praise people we do not see
People whom we only know from TV
People who've never said a single thing
People who don't even know you as a human being
People who sit in mansions, tucked away
Spending their wealth on mostly useless things
We worship these people, who we never see
Yet we scream at the people who we see everyday
The people who do everything in their power so that we can be
The irony, you see
Is quite amusing to me
We kick down our hero's
Because to us, their just an everyday thing
Completely looking past everything that could be
If they weren't here for you and me
How loving
How thoughtful
How utterly spiteful
So now, you see
What the comic books don't tell you
Is that our hero is here everyday
Through absolutely everything
Every smile
Every tear
Every scream
Every laugh
But we take them for just everyday things
Oh and lastly-
Our hero's worst enemy
Is you and me

This is really deep, but true as well. If I had the chance to be a hero, I would want to be unknown, if that makes any sense lol. Anyhoo, wonderful write. =)
