FreedomA Poem by Night BaneWhat would you do to be free? The bird sits on the wire, fluttering its wings, As if waiting for the right gust of wind. It's all I've ever wanted, to fly away, To go someplace where I can be myself, To have the freedom to speak my mind. Here, they treat me like a child, Everything is done for me, I can't even choose my own dresses. I am never allowed to leave this place. Wherever I go, there is always someone, Someone to watch me, to guard me... To stop me from leaving! I can't go outside, Speak unless spoken to. I am a caged tiger, Walking back and forth in my prison, Wanting to run, hunt, To have space. To be free. I want it, yearn for it, need it. I can't stay here anymore, I need freedom. To be able to walk out the front doors in body, Or to desert my body and leave this world, Would be better than eternal imprisonment. The windows call me forth to jump, to escape, The dark whispers horrible secrets. There is nothing I wouldn't do to try to leave, I will do anything and everything in my power for freedom.
