Better Than Before

To Whoever Needs a little uplifting and advice regarding their past experiences. The poem's message is simple, yet we all could use a little uplifting every now and then. (3/22/2017)

Today you are better than before.

Past experiences make you who you are.

Whether it be soured love or deep depression.

Self acceptance is truly not far.

 

You go with the flow taking punch after punch.

Life throws many, thus leaving you down.

What can you do? Your back is against the wall.

You look upon life with a frown.

 

Never give up, mark my word.

Muscles do not strengthen without tearing.

Just as our souls strengthen from the journey taken.

Our past is the scars that our souls are wearing.

 

Remember the past as if it were only that.

Do not put deeper meaning into events that occur.

For I know there are events, which affect our very personality.

Nothing can change the past, this I concur.

 

You are who you are and that is the beauty of human existence.

Everyone has a past, which we all handle in a different way.

The only advice I can permit to a soul feeling great sorrow

Is to talk with others and begin to pray.

 

Talking with others can relate and relieve the stress at hand.

Praying can cast out those worries and let them soar.

Thus, self acceptance can commence.

Today you are better than before.
