Funeral Tears

Funeral Tears

A Poem by Nicky Sarti
"

Linked to Wed 20th March 2013 poem. More about the day I didn't want to attend; but will always remember.

"
The man I have known all my life.
The man who has seen me grown.
The Boss. Strong and gentle.
He is strong.
With a job to do, and a reputation to keep.
He’s always so quiet and so guarded.
Yet not today, how could he be?
“His mate…” He was your mate.
He was ours too! Everyone’s mate; everyone’s friend.
I saw your tears, ready to fall.
Did you see mine?
My heart was already breaking.
Seeing that genuine sadness from you broke it more.
I wanted to reach out to her as she passed by, hug her deeply and honestly.
I felt the same towards you as you stood up there; alone as you clearly felt.
I have known you all my life, you have been a big part of it; and always will be.
I care for you as such, and want to comfort you.
To wipe away all those funeral tears.
