I Kissed a Tory, and I Liked it.

A Story by Nicky Sarti
"

She kissed a Tory, and she liked it... and for a Liberal that was just not the done thing!!! Short little story, bit of fun and done as part of my first published book of short stories and poems.

"

“Kissing Tories again Lexie?” She knew his voice anywhere; it was one of them voices that you could not fail to know. She didn’t want to turn round; she wanted to walk away as fast as she could. Yet like the good girl she was, she turned round; trying not to look up into his eyes.

“That’ll get you in trouble one of these days!” William added, that sly smile just longing to be slapped from that mouth of his. That soft, oh so kissable mouth... stop that at once! She berated herself, knowing the last thing she could was think like that again.

Being turned down once was bad enough, twice she just about coped with; but to have it happen a third time ~ and when she didn’t like him in that way ~ was not something she planned on doing. She was slow to answer, but quick in her thinking. If she said what had first came into her head, all hell would have broke lose; she needed to think about this.

“What no witty comeback?” He asks, staring at her; trying to look into her soul. Before she had a chance to reply, he was breezing into through the electric doors.

“So who’s this lucky Tory in my group then?” Mark’s voice was strong and commanding, yet there was a softness that; she suspected not many saw.

“It’s not him is it Lexie?” William’s shock almost being covered, Mark knew what was meant by William’s words; yet Lexie seemed oblivious to them.

“Why, you jealous?” Mark returned, hands on hip looking as hard as he could.

“Don’t be so daft...” William snapped back, looking just as hard as Mark. It was like a game to the pair, both jostling for position; yet neither really wanting that position. Lexie hated this, this to her was stupid. Two alleged grown men, fighting over someone neither man cared about or wanted. However, if she thought this was bad now; all she needed to do was wait for a moment or two ~ things were about to get a whole lot worse.

She didn’t need to hear him, she just knew the moment he walked in. While both Mark and William were doing their “little-boy-looking-hard” routine, Robert was waltzing in and taking over from both men.

“What about us Red’s?” He asked with a chuckle, adding a slight dig towards the fact she had made that long winded rant about socialist earlier that week.

“What?” Both Mark and William exclaimed, the look on both men’s faces saying it all.

“She’s one of us!” William spat with as much venom as he could manage, and with all the hatred he had for Robert; it was a lot.

“Rubbish is she... she knows what’s good for her!” Robert threw back, both men hated each other; neither were afraid to show it.

“Yeah and that’s us!” Mark managed to get a word in, William’s attention now being taken by Robert. Sighing deeply, Lexie quietly turned to leave; this was not what she wanted or indeed where she wished to be.

“She’ll never be Tory scum!” William almost screamed his temper and anger easily showing; not that Lexie actually cared.

Moments later Lexie was in the safe confines of her local, the Wig and Pen; here she felt safe and totally distressed.
“So this is where you hide then?” His voice soft and warm, welcoming like an old faithful friend you long to see. Looking up into his beautiful eyes, Lexie cannot fail to smile warmly; silently offering him a seat.

“Russ!” Lexie exclaimed, getting up far quicker than she meant; falling into Russell’s waiting arms as she did so.

“Falling for me already hey?” His soft chuckle sending shivers down her spine, as he gently held Lexie up; not wanting to let her go.

“Oh Russ, I’m sorry; I...” Lexie began, blushing wildly as she tried to hide her feelings and emotions.

“Don’t ever apologise beautiful... I wasn’t teasing you!” Russell told her, hushing her mumbled words with his soft kindness. He knew, he had always known Lexie had feelings for him. He always believed she would be put off by his past, her friends and the fact he was a Tory. Truth is, his past is what made her want him... well, not what he did, but the fact he was trying to make amends for his foolish actions that night.

“So... you kissed a Tory hey?” Russell whispered into Lexie’s ear as he gently moved closer, the passion could be clearly felt by both; neither wanted to lose their closeness.

“I did...” Was all she could manage to reply, the moment taking her breath away; it was as if the world around them had stopped. Time stood still as they both enjoyed this moment, neither wanting it to end; the pair wanting it to last forever.

“Did you like it?” He asked, letting a small laugh escape.

“I certainly did... nothing like kissing a Tory!” She silently whispered back, getting as close as she dare to the man stood before her.

“In fact...” Lexie began, taking hold of Russell’s jacket lapels and pulling him close.

“I want to do it again...” She breathed, her lips as close as they could be without touching.

“Well, I kissed a Liberal...” Russell began, adjusting his position; his soft hands gently holding onto her hips.

“Did you like it Russ?” Lexie asked, sure she knew the answer before he gave it.

“I loved it Lexie...” He gently managed to answer, not giving her the chance to keep talking; as he swiftly but gently kissed his Liberal.
