Prejudice

Prejudice

A Poem by Nicole Renee

Prejudice is a black veil over our eyes,
Leading us to misguided feelings and reason
Without knowing about what we really should
Think in the first place, not seeing the facts within the reason
And judging a person before we even know them.
It tastes like acid within my mind
And it feels like a blow to the head when nothing's hit me,
Prejudice knocking me down whenever I see it.
So don't cover your ears when you witness this
Because it sounds like the cries that need help
With the bulliness of Prejudice.

This is the Prejudice poem I had to write for my Strategies for College class.
I feel like the last stanza is a little off, so I might fix it later.

It's a short but very telling piece. You expressed your views on prejudice clearly and with great imagery. I also like the picture you used for it. Made me think of little big planet and how you can change the little sock puppets to look like anything. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it's still a nice touch.

It's nice, but a bit wordy. The nice thing about poetry is that we don't have to write as we speak. And, but, and so are conjuctions that are necessary for an english essay but can often detract from a poem.

The feeling here is strong. The last line lost me. The word "you" is used twice in the last line and "your" is used in the line above it. I would think about rewording the last line. 100 daisies for effort though.
