Lingering?

Lingering?

A Poem by Nicole Renee

I smell the cologne;

I’m wondering if it’s you.

Please tell me the sign.

Author's Note

Nicole Renee
On my dad's birthday, I could smell a heavy cologne smell, and nobody else really smelled it besides my mom. Nobody else had put any cologne on, and my mom said that my uncle (who I made the poem about; Eleven Years and I'm Still Standing) wore that cologne. When I was playing monopoly with my friend today, I smelt the same smell. So I don't know if I'm just imagining this, or if it's my uncle's soul.

In either event, it's a wonderful reminder of a special person. Sharon

There's no definite way to know.
But you could take it as a comfort either way, I think.
Lovely haiku, although I wouldn't have quite understood what was happening without the explanation.
Thank you for sharing such a personal experience with us.
Keep writing, please, and as always, I look forward to more. :)
