Paper, Odd Doll

Paper, Odd Doll

A Poem by Nicole Renee

I’m just a doll sitting

Upon a window sill shelf

With no mouth to speak

With, and no mind to think with.

Yet my paper heart beats well.

I just felt like writing this tanka (Syllable count of 5-7-5-7-7).

And does this poem make sense to anyone? Idk.

Yes it does make sense.....A great Tanka. You capture a lot about silences in this piece, the not being able to talk or speak but a heart inside. A touching write.

I feel like like for this poem that style won't work. I feel like it needs more explanation, more detail, more sensory images to bring us in and relate to the item and understand the story behind it and why it's the focus of the poem. I hope that makes sense.
