Fire in Their SoulsA Poem by Nicole ReneeInspired by 'Into the Night' by Santana feat. Chad Kroeger
The devil stood still on the floor, His suit being made of fire And the ashes of the dead, The dying flower in his hands Being made of his own blood And the thorns were his wickedness. His eyes searched long and hard Until he saw a women in red, Her midnight wavy hair flowing Down her back with a coy smile Played upon her lushed lips. Her eyes sparkled like the Stars in the lit up night, The message in them toying With the devil’s mind as it played Tricks and loops inside Her twilight colored eyes. When he got to what she wanted, It asked him to dance a dance That’d they never forget, Wanting a moment that would Last forever until the end of time. He pursed his lips until they were thin, The thoughts of asking sitting inside his mind. On an answer, the women walked up to him And asked him if he wanted to dance, The words pouring out of her mouth Like melted chocolate onto his face. The devil accepted her request and Took her hand in hand, twirling Her around and around with No regrets to come, thinking That the night would never die Until the fire in their souls died out With their bodies still moving to the beat. When the dance was over, The devil himself laid a kiss upon The women’s hand, saying,” Good bye forever, don’t let The art of surprises catch you Off guard..Someday, you’ll find out why..” Leaving her in a wondrous daze As he went away in a human breath. © 2008 Nicole ReneeAuthor's Note
