The Effect and Cause

The Effect and Cause

A Poem by Nicole Renee

My nerves are shot,

My mind is blank,

A sea of nervousness

Has overcome me.

I fall into pieces as the

Infinite stares of a million

Are making the spotlight on me.

What are you doing?;

Get away from me!

I wish the floor would

Open its mouth and swallow

Me whole so I wouldn't have

This heavy burden upon me.

Written after I got nervous in my American Sign Language class when my partner and I had to sign a fairy tale in the front of the class. I took Acting 1 this year, but I STILL hate going up in front of people. XD

Well done! I think it's great! My only suggestion would be to change the title from "The Cause and Effect" to "The Effect and Cause" because the it's unorthodox nature will grab more attention and in the poem the reader learns about the Effect before they learn of the Cause. I can really relate to this poem on other levels than stage fright which is awesome!
