Present.

Exactly ten years have passed since that encounter on the hilltop, at the forbidden forest. Jielen is now the king of Astalan, and is twenty five years old. His father passed away when he turned eighteen, and shortly after his mother passed away from a broken heart. Now walking along the path to the hilltop where he met Kira he could see his kingdom. The Castle, stood larger and strong, the market place was busy with people, farmers tending to their crops, and smoke traveling out from houses. He had succeeded in what he had planned; Jielen expanded his father's kingdom to farther horizons. He granted Astalanian citizenship to those from foreign countries, made colonies for people who had no land, made jobs for those who had none, and increased pay for soldiers. He even started a government of senators. Now standing on the hill, he was a grown man. His hair was always kept short, but still dark in color. His eyes, a darker green and still surrounded with those dark lashes. His facial features also changed, form having rounded child features, his cheek bones were high, nose was straight and his lips were sharp. His father's sword rested on his belt, turning his attention to behind, he pulled the sword out of its shield and whirled around. Pointing the tip of the blade in his peeping toms face.

Only to see it was a girl, with sapphire blue eyes, porcelain skin, dark red hair, rosy cheeks, plump pink lips, and soft pink wings.

"Kira?" He questioned.

The girl in front of him laughed, "Yes Jielen, it is me." She said walking closer to him, and he lowered his blade. Now standing face to face, she was about a couple inches shorter than him.

"But how? When I saw you...you were this small." He asked, confusion kicking in.

"How am I this tall?" She asked measuring herself to him. He gave a slight nod.

"Hmm, I think its what you humans call a growth spurt?" She said tilting her head to the side.
Stepping back so he could get a better look, she had on a short green skirt, and top that showed off her legs as well as flat stomach. She had a body marking that started at her side, wrapping around her waist and down her left leg. From what he could see there was also markings on her back and neck. Her hair fell past her shoulders, and was a red he'd never seen before.
She's beautiful, he thought to himself. Again giggling as if she heard what he was thinking, she took another step closer and said,

"You've grown up too Jielen."

"Of course, I am king now." He replied proudly.

"What you always wanted." She said laughing.
"Come 'ere I gotta show you something," she said, grabbing his hand.

They walked down the hill and stopped at a bush, with luscious red raspberries.

"Perfect for picking," they both said at the same time. Looking at each other, they both laughed.

Picking the raspberries by the handfuls, they both went back up to the hilltop and sat there. Eating those luscious red raspberries.

"I waited for you, so long ago. I waited for you to come back." Kira said, looking straight forward. Pain stabbed at Jielen's chest.

"My father told me to never come back here, he said this forest was filled with dangerous creatures. Creatures that weren't human." He replied, watching her from the corner of his eye. When she said nothing he asked, "Is it true? There are dangerous creatures in here?"

"It is." She simply replied.

"Are you one of them."

"No."

The two of them sat in silence, watching the sun go down. That's when Kira jumped up,
"You have to go." She said with a serious look on her face.

"What? Why?" Jielen questioned.

"Please, no questions, come back tomorrow and I'll explain it to you, but please.. just go for now." She pleaded. With a silent nod he started walking back, looking back he saw that she was still standing there watching him. Turning back around, he got on his horse and rode away.

Pacing back and forth in his bed chamber, Jielen couldn't do anything but go over what had happened. She just jumped up out of no where and told him he should leave. Wasn't she the one who waited for him so long ago, now she was telling him to leave? Shaking his head, he headed to the stables, mounted his horse, and rode back to the forest.

Now approaching the entrance to the Forbidden Forest, shadows of the night surrounding him, the only sound he could hear was his breathing and his horse's.

"Okay.." He breathed, and continued on, darkness devouring him. Squinting his eyes, he could see a glowing light Kira, he breathed to himself. Rubbing the mane of his horse, to urge him on.
Getting closer to the light he heard voices, that's when he realized it wasn't just Kira.
He had to get a little more closer, he had to see who she was with. Slowly getting down from his horse, he tied the reins on a branch and his behind a tree.

"What stopped you this time child!" The mysterious voice boomed and crackled like lightning.

"I can't do this anymore." Kira said, through sobs.

"He will come again, and you will take his heart. Or did you forget our deal?" The voice said, now stepping into the light. Jielen saw that the creature was cloaked in black, it's face was full of boils and bumps, its skin was dark green in color. Adjusting himself to see better, he saw the creatures hand cupping Kira's chin pulling her face to it's own. It's fingers were boney, and long, itd nails were black and sharp.

"Should I kill your whole family first, then move onto your friends, then the rest of your beautiful population." The creature had said, holding her face in place.

"No.. please don't." It was faint, but Jielen heard Kira whisper to the creature.

"Good, child, do not fear me. I am keeping your people safe. Now go, take his heart, and bring it to me." He said.

Jielen lost balance and stepped on some branches making noise. Looking back he saw that the creature's eyes were focused on him, and it was grinning. Its lips were open and stretched spreading across his face. Exposing its teeth they were spread out like broken shards of glass, and its eyes were as black as the devil's heart. Pulling the sword hanging from Jielen's waist, he pointed the tip at the creatures face. Stepping around the creature in front of him, he secured Kira behind him.

"What are you?" Jielen asked the creature.

"My dear king, you rule this kingdom and yet you do not know all of its inhabitants? I am a demon. Anyone can tell you." The creature replied, laughing. Straightening up, the creature locked its icy stare on Jielen. “Even Kira there..” It said pointing of its boney fingers at Kira, tensing up Jielen moved more in front of her.

“What “deal” were you speaking of creature?” Jielen asked.

“The deal? Ahh, you speak of The Deal. Its nothing for you to worry your royal head over” It replied.

“As your king I command you to tell me.” Jielen said through clenched teeth.

“Hm, you’ll have to try better than that. King.” It lunged towards Jielen. Pushing Kira to the side, Jielen blocked the creatures attack with his sword, falling to the ground the creature trapped Jielen below its legs. Snarling as it ripped Jielen’s clothes from his chest, grunting Jielen pushed his blade at the creature’s chest, Jielen heard the creature hiss and felt the pressure jump off of him. Quickly standing to his feet he saw the creature clutch at his left breast and hiss. Placing both hands on the sword, Jielen braced himself for another attack. The creature again lunged at Jielen, one of its hand nearly caught Jielen in the face. Side stepping Jielen lashed his blade out at the creature slicing flesh.

“Is that the best you have monster?” Jielen asked stepping back, he heard the creature laugh.

“You have seen nothing yet, child.” The creature lifted his arm, palm up, and what looked like a dark orb formed in his hand. Its eyes turned from black to a red, the wind around them picked up, circling around the creature. Jielen noticed that there was no blood on his sword, no blood at all.

“No, please don’t..” Jielen heard Kira whisper from behind him. She got up and stepped in front of him,

“I waited for you, even though I knew you would never return, but here you are. Why did you return?” Kira spoke to him, her illuminating light glowing brighter than he had ever seen before.

“I came because I needed to see you.” He said.

Hot tears rolled down Kira’s face, she stood there smiling at him.

“Thank you, thank you.” She sobbed. Reaching her hands to his face, she pulled his lips down to hers. Their lips formed together as if they were made exactly for one another, she tasted like sunflowers and sunshine. When their tongues met, it was a feeling Jielen had never known. It sent bolts of electricity through them both, and Jielen couldn’t help it. He dropped his sword and wrapped his arms around Kira, his head tilting to the side deepening the kiss. Her hands wove around his neck pulling him closer to her body, and it was that moment the Jielen knew. This was the girl that he couldn’t be without; he needed Kira in her life. Breaking the kiss she whispered something to him, and stepped back. Tears still rolling down her face, reaching forward to grab her, Jielen stumbled on his own clumsy feet.

“Kira…Kira!” He called out.

“I love you” she mouthed.

Turning Kira stood straight up, and held her hands to the sky, clouds started forming, and lightning could be heard cracking through the sky. A lightning bolt hit the ground where Kira was standing, and then again it formed in her palms. A stream of lightning forming in her palms spread to the sky, Jielen saw the creature had positioned his hands to attack. When the dark orb left the creatures hands, Kira released all the power she had. An orb of light surrounded Kira and the monster.

“KIRA!” Jielen shouted.

When the light ceased, it was just Kira. Standing there she smiled at Jielen then collapsed to the floor. Running to her side, Jielen cradled Kira’s head in his lap.

“Please, Please, don’t leave me.” He pleaded, pulling back the hair from her face.

“Don’t… I finally get to say this… when I first met you, I fell in love with you. Remember me…” She forced out, and he head lolled to the side.

“Please don’t.. wake up. Please Kira, I love you too. Please come back to me.” He cooed her, but no response.

Letting out a roar, Jielen slowly stood up, and walked to his horse. Putting his sword on the horse he sent it back to the kingdom. Jielen walked back to where Kira’s body lay, silently he laid down, and curled against Kira. He laid there. Forever.
