A Fairy's Love(Pt. 1)

A Story by Nicole
"

The short love story between a prince, and a fairy.

Past.

The grass was cold and dewy under Jielen's feet. Jielen is the current heir to Astalan, and is only fifteen years old. Jielen had black hair which was shoulder length and tied up in a ponytail. His eyes were an emerald green, which was very rare. His eye lashes made a beautiful rim around his eyes. He had perfect tan skin, and was tall with broad shoulders. Turning his head he could see the kingdom he was soon going to rule outlined by the rising sun, the kingdom of Astalan was vast and expanded for as far as the eye can see. From the hilltop where Jielen was sitting he could see the castle, market place, some farming fields as well as, houses. A kingdom where the people were happy. That's the kingdom his great-great grandfather had in mind when he rose to rule,
that's the kingdom his great-great grandfather created. So on from his great-great grandfather to his great grandfather, to his grandfather, and now father. Each ruler making this kingdom bigger, more peaceful, and stronger. Jielen was part of the best dynasty known to his world. Soon, this is gonna be all mine. I'm gonna be the one to rule this kingdom and make it even greater, it is my right. Jielen shouted in his head, jumping up with excitement. The very thought of him ruling his father's kingdom and making the kingdom even greater than the men before him who had shaped it, made him ecstatic.

The sun had now risen, and farmers were tending the their animals. That's when Jielen heard a crack from the bushes behind him. Whirling around he searched the bush frantically, looking for any sign of movement. "Who's there?" He said in a shaky voice. Nothing. Walking closer to the bush he heard a noise again. Jielen jumped five steps back, losing his balance he slipped down the side of the hill. Rolling his way to the bottom, the only thing Jielen felt was a sudden pain in his head, then saw nothing but blackness.

Opening his eyes, Jielen felt pain at his temples. Slowly he stood up, and rubbed his temples.

"What the..." He trailed off looking around him. To Jielen's dismay he saw a tiny bright light flying around. Closing his eyes to make sure he wasn't hallucinating he opened them again to see that a little, little, little, glowing girl was right in his face. Shock caught hold of Jielen, the only thing he knew to do was to jump back. In doing that he hit his head again and another flash of pain shot through.

"Don't be afraid, I can't hurt you." The girl said in a small, squeaky voice.

"Wha...What are you? How are you so little...how are you floating?" Jielen asked, eyes widening. Not believing what was right there in front of him.

He heard the little floating being laugh, "I'm a fairy you silly human." She descended down to where she was again in his face.

"My name is Kira, what's your name?" She asked, smiling.

"M..my name..my name is Jielen. Are you real?" Jielen was able to stumble out, staring at the creature named Kira in awe.

"Of course I'm real, if I wasn't would I be able to do this?!" She squeaked, and tapped his nose. Jielen flinched and she laughed, even he laughed himself. Jielen couldn't resist, he opened his hand as a silent invitation, and Kira rested in the palm of his hand. It felt as if he was holding a little human being. So she is real, he thought to himself.

Looking closer at the glowing creature, Jielen saw that she had creamy porcelain skin, blue sapphire eyes, and even though Jielen couldn't see her eye lashes he saw the dark rim they made around her eyes. Her hair was dark, but not a natural color. She had a small pointed nose that accented her small facial features.

"Is there something on my face?" he heard her ask, realizing he had been staring embarrassment burned at his cheeks.

"No, there's nothing." He mumbled, quickly turning his head to the side. A rumbling sound came from his stomach. Jielen felt every part of him start to burn from the embarrassment, throwing her a side glance he saw she was laughing.

"Are you hungry?" She managed to get out through giggles.

"No." He said quickly.

"Doesn't sound like it, wait here! I'm gonna go get some food." She flew off, leaving a trail of glittering light. Jielen saw her wings flap behind her, they were a light pink in color. After she disappeared, the glittering trail mingled behind for a little while before completely disappearing leaving Jielen in a daze. Am I really seeing a fairy, he asked himself once more. Looking around he saw no trace of the trail he took here, this worried him. It was still day, he was sure of it, but the trees were so dense that he couldn't see the sun.

"Jielen! Jielen! Come look at this!" He heard Kira call out. Now following the glittery trail he saw a bush of luscious raspberries. They were red, and plump.

"Perfect for picking." Jielen heard Kira say as if she were reading his thoughts.

The two of them sat there and picked berries, Jielien picking handfuls, and Kira picking one by one. She had told him how her father was the king of the fairies, and how her people inhabited the forest here. In return he told her about how his father was king of the kingdom, and how he was the next heir to the throne. He also told her about his life living in the castle, how his every move was watched, and that he never had any privacy. Guards were always at his side. While she told him how it was like living in the forest, how it was a free feeling. Waking up every morning to the sounds nature, eating luscious fruits, and drinking sweet nectars. The two talked for hours, and hours, before they realized it. Darkness had decended on the forest. Kira glowed even brighter than before.

"On no, I have to go home. My parents are probably worried about me, and knowing my mother she probably has the whole town looking for me." Jielen said looking worried.

"Fear not! I'll lead you to the town, but you have to promise not to tell your people of my existence or my people's? Understand?" She said, buzzing right into his face.

"Yes, I understand." He replied.

"Okay! Lets go!" She twirled in the air. Then nestled in his hair, Jielen felt his cheeks start to burn again.

"Which way am I supposed to go?" He asked.

"Hmm, your hair is so soft!" She nestled deeper, to where he felt her warmth on his scalp.
Then it was gone.

"Follow me", she said flying in front of him. Leading him through trees, under branches, and he was on the path to town.

"This is where we separate." She said turning to face him.

"Will I ever see you again?" He asked.

"Hmm, I don't know. But I'm sure we'll meet again." She said, then swooped down and pecked him on the lips, and once more on the forehead.
"Goodbye, Jielen." She said, giggling before she flew off, my first kiss was with a fairy.
He laughed, and started down the path. Stopping for a quick second he turned back towards the forest, and saw nothing but darkness. For some strange reason Jielen's chest was hurting.

When Jielen got home, his mother had hugged him close to her.

"Where have you been Jielen!? Do you know how worried I was? I don't suppose you do, if you did you wouldn't have gotten me so worried!" She exclaimed.

"Mom! I'm fine, safe, and home. See?" Jielen turned around so his mother could see he was unharmed.

"You don't talk to your mother with that tone." He heard a deep voice boom from behind him.
Turning to face his father Jelian had immediately turned his head when he noticed that his father's icy glare was focused on him.

"Where were you Jielen?" His father asked.

"I was on the hilltop."

"All day, and all night?"

"Yes." Jielen said inhaling a breath.

"Don't lie to me, where'd you get that bump from then?" His father accused pointing out the bump Jielen got when he hit his head.

"I fell."

"I'm only going to ask you again, where were you?"

"I was on the hill and then I fell down, hit my head, and when I woke up I was in the forest." He answered honestly this time.

"The forest? What forest?" His mother interjected this time.

"The one on the outskirts of town."

"You must never go there, do you hear me Jielen?" His father said, in a voice so deep Jielen could have sworn the table shook.

"Wh-" He started.

"Do not question this Jielen. Please." His mother pleaded.

"No, don't hide it from him, if he is to rule he must know this." His father told his mother, now turning his attention on Jielen. "There are dangerous creatures in that forest Jielen, creatures not of this world. Not human." His father said. Jielen felt the blood drain from his face. Kira was a fairy, not of this world, not human, but she wasn't dangerous. Was she? What was his father saying.

"Jielen do you hear me?" His father asked. Snapping him out of a daze.

"Yes father, I will never return there." Jielen swore. Then started walking to his room, feeling hot tears rolling down his cheeks. He was never going to see Kira again, the thought killed him inside.
