Cliche' but True

Cliche' but True

A Poem by Nicole Sternshein

Truth, maker and breaker of many relationships.
Why don't we like the truth?
Seriously, as a friend tell me why the truth is so heartbreaking.
Why is it so hard to face?

We would rather lie, than say the truth.
Is it fair?
Does it make us human to conceal the truth.
Shield others from what they fear.

No more.
No more shielding.
No more lying.
No more dishonesty.

I'll tell you the truth,
Because I believe you can handle the truth.
I believe you can prove truth wrong
and show me that the truth does not define us.

But the truth shows us something.
Shows us what we're missing,
what we need.
Bringing to light what was hidden in the dark.

Here is my truth.
I am weak.
I am broken.
I am not going to be defeated by whats breaking me down.
