Chapter 2

Chapter 2-The Date 

“Lyra I have to tell you something before Callum and Collin get here”  

“Ok chicky spill the tea what's going on ?”

“I have a date… there was this guy at the coffee shop… and he asked me out omg he's so cute, well hot but that's beside the point he has dimples and his voice is so hot Lyra and he's so nice… Well, I think he's nice. I only met him for a little bit this morning …. But you know I like Callum… What do I do ???” UGHH

 “Babe   your never going to ask Callum out and this guy if he's as hot as you say he is and he's nice I say go for it stop holding yourself back You deserve to be happy”

 Wow she actually had some good points ok I can do this “Hmph”

 “Okay let's do this,  I got this…. Can you help me get ready after we hang out for a bit ?” 

Lyrah Grins “Of course. “

   Callum and Collin show up a few minutes later and I realize that yes Callum is cute but he's not as cute as Zaiden Is my crush on him doesn’t seem as big as it used to be. We all hang out for a few hours and talk about pointless things then we go get Ice Cream and head our separate ways.

Lyrah goes home with me and helps me pick out my outfit for the date tomorrow. He sent me a text saying it was at this big fancy restaurant and to dress nice so I'm wearing a sparkly silver dress and diamond heels with hoop earrings and a diamond necklace. 

The next day -I wake up and go to work. It's very bright out today or maybe it just seems that way. I'm in a pretty good mood today. And so far work has gone great lyra came in for her Dailey latte caramel with cream Then she left to go to dance practice she has competitions in a week she's already won two and is hoping to win her third.

 After work Kaida goes straight home and gets ready for her date an hour and twenty minutes later Zaiden shows up. He shows up in a 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray Looking extremely well in a black tux with an emerald green tie that matches his eyes.

Damn, he looks so fine who knew anyone could look that good in a tux.  

“Nice ride.”  and it was the beautiful 

Zaiden grins  his right dimple showing “Thanks darling.” Zaiden  opens the car door 

“Are you always such a gentleman?” I smile 

He winks “Always. “ and shuts the door then climbs into the driver's side. 

Once they arrive at the restaurant they are Immediately seated because Zaiden had made reservations yesterday.

“Wow, it's so beautiful!“ 

Zaiden smiles wistfully as if lost in thought “If you think this is beautiful you should see my home town the stars there are like nothing you've ever seen before they shine so bright you’d think you were seeing a million little suns.”

He blinks and shakes his head as if he's shaking himself out of a memory  

“It seems like you miss It a lot. And that does sound beautiful, where is it?”

 His mouth tightens. “I do miss it ....I miss it very much, It's Nowhere you’ve heard of darling .” Hmm If he misses it so much why doesn’t he just go back

 “Zaiden, If you miss it so much why don’t you just go back ?”

  he frowns his mouth tightens and his eyebrows draw together 

“I will, I just can’t yet…. I have to tell you something Kaida …. And I don’t think you're going to believe me well actually I have a few things I have to tell you.. And I don’t want to scare you ” he grabs my hand “Kaida  I need you to listen okay”

 I start to panic a little  and he squeezes my hand “Okay, what is it?”

 His face grows serious “ I knew  you when I walked into that coffee shop, I’ve been looking for you for two years, Kaida but I didn’t know it was you I was looking for until a week before I walked into that coffee shop.”

 Shocked, my eyes widened. I try to pull my hand away from him but he holds on tighter. “Wha-What are you saying none of this makes sense… you were looking for me but you didn’t know it was me ?? What's going on ???  I need to leave … I need to leave now!!” 

Kaida starts looking around and tries to stand

 “Kaida Please relax, you really need to calm down and let me continue, let me explain.” 

ok ok maybe if I let him explain it won't be so bad…

 “Ok, please…continue” 

  he squeezes my hand “Thank you” I nod “ Your world is going to collapse Kaida there are things that humans can’t see out here that are affecting this world they are causing chaos  and destruction  they are ruining your world and we need you to help us save it .” I start shaking my head and I’m starting to believe he might be on stuff because honestly...the world collapsing, things humans can’t see, like he's not human just like me and everyone else  

“ Haha, No, It's not me I’m mortal it can’t be me, why do you think it's me? And what things?”

 he tightens his hold on my hand and then loosens it his eyebrows scrunching together  he lifts his eyes and looks at me

 “ You're not going to want to  believe me, I need you to keep an open mind, ok Kaida.”  

“Ok.” I mean it's not like I really believe him right now anyway, Me save the world ha that must be a joke.

 But who would go through all this trouble if it wasn't real who would make up such an elaborate lie?

 ” The world around you is not as it seems demons roam influencing the weak of mind and picking away at those with strong minds, they also possess humans but only upper-class demons can do that, upper-class demons have fully black eyes they can possess you completely and live in your body for weeks. Middle-class demons have deep blood-red eyes and can control one's actions and mind but only for a short period of time. Lower class demons have orange eyes and  can only whisper into one's ear and try to influence them their influence is strong but not as strong as the others.” 

Kaida shivers and Zaiden runs his hand through his hair “I’m sorry to be putting it all on you like this ...But That's not all there is much much more and I have to continue you have to know it all.” Kadia nods

 “Ok,I think I’m starting to believe you… but I don’t know. It all just sounds kind of made up… Like some of the books I read.”

 He nods smiles and kisses my hand

 ” I know it's hard to believe darling thank you for giving me a chance,  Evil Fae, very easy to kill they are as dumb as a sack of rocks but they are evil Fae for a reason they have sharp teeth and often go hunting when others are asleep-”

“So vampires ?” 

“ No not vampires, vampires are actually good they help us hunt sometimes I myself am a half vampire “ 

coughs looks at Kaida

 “anyways no more interruption-

“Wait… you're…you're a vampire???”

“Half vampire, the technical name for it is Dhampir. ”

“Ahem anyways back to the story  the Fae Hunt at Night under a cover of darkness they steal away mortal children to feed they will feed on anything with a pulse but they usually go for children because it's easy for them they don’t just feed on blood they like bones and everything  else mortals taste good to them but us if they could get there hand on us were a full buffa for them it's our blood it attracts them-” 

“If our blood attracts them why are they not here  and why have I never been found before?”

  He smiles with dimples making an appearance

“  Kaida you have got to stop cutting me off, I was just getting ready to tell you why they are currently not here and  why you've never been found before.” He smirks and points to his watch “This watch has nightshade in it it blocks fae from scenting my blood, It's the only thing that keeps them from scenting us. but you, my darling are different you don’t need the nightshade on you it's in you it's like it runs through your blood It's how I knew you were the one I needed to find I could feel the nightshade running through you .” 

 Kaida tilts her head her eyebrows drawn together and her mouth tighters She taps her finger against her lip in confusion then looks up at Zaiden

 “Huh, how…?”

 Zaiden shrugs “It is unknown how you came to me born with nightshade blood, but I found you because I could smell the nightshade in you it was everywhere, it is everywhere.”

 ”Kaida I still have a  lot I need to explain, Are you ready?” 

Kaida nods” Yes.” 

“Pixies usually there are not too many bad pixies most just live their life playing small pranks here and there but some pixies the ones we hunt they are the ones who take pranks too far and end up killing people they are a bit extreme but we don’t have to deal with them much because once again most are friendly although they can look scary sometimes, there are different types some have long nails or sharp teeth or they could look just like us but really tiny all pixies are tiny unless the are half then they are our size most of the time at least.”

 “Next is Spirits. These people can see sometimes, most humans call them ghosts. They like haunting and scaring people. We don't kill them unless they kill people. We just banish them.” “Kaida, how are you doing with all this so far?” 

Haha wow really It’s not like my whole world just got turned upside down or anything 

“I’m doing good… great actually… can you just continue ... .Please.” 

Zaiden sighs and runs his hand through his hair

 “Okay, Kobolds, Very hard to find let alone kill they are invisible 98% of the time but can also shapeshift into an animal, a fire, a human, and a candle, you have to cut them with a dagger or sword dipped in the black ashes of the willows tree cut them anywhere and the with it and they will die. The last and the most dangerous of all the things we hunt are the dragon shifters, The dragon shifters were born with human DNA but taught since children to kill, and since they were born with human DNA some were raised like us hell you probably go to college with some. but they are trained killers very few are not very few do we live in peace with. The dragon shifters usually have a purpose for doing Something, although their motives or purposes don’t always make since the queen  is the strongest dragon shifter it's why she was named queen at such a young age at least for a dragon.”

 Kaidas eyes widened  “How old is she?” 

Zaiden glares at her HMPH “Every. Time. Kaida-I was getting there.”

 “The dragon queen was in her early 100’s she's still a child to most of the dragon shifters but she was stronger than them so she had earned their respect. The only way to Kill a dragon Is to Rip out its heart and set it aflame “

Kadia gasps and covers her mouth 

“It's harsh and disturbing I know, but it has to be done.”

Kaida shakes her head no “You have to come with me you have to meet Elex you have to get trained.” 

“No, No, I’m leaving, I’m going home.”Kaida Jerks her hand away “None of this Is real,I can’t do this, If it is real you got the wrong  chick.” Kaida stands and runs out. She hears Zaiden yell after her but doesn’t listen to what he's saying.
