Childhood Belief

Childhood Belief

A Poem by Nicolas Jao

I used to think He

was a man in robes.

With wavy hair, kindness

And he could refuse death

Make nature bow down to His knees

Fish and Wine and Bread.

Now they say He

existed. But not in the way

we think, because there is now science.

But I still think He does, but

not as a conventional man. But

as an endless entity with power over everything.

And before, my faith was gullible innocence,

Now it is real.
