The Two of Us

The Two of Us

A Poem by Nico

plc-00026817-001.jpg picture by blueskyns1959  where are you, how are you
it can be hard
I know, you know.

I stop at a red light at the crossroad
you are the one I am looking for amongest everyone
by foot, in a cab or in a bus
two eyes looking at you and then going away
into brisk winds, lost in traffic
cars honking madly in laughable chaos.

where are you, how are you
I'll change, if you change
the two of us, we are alike
two wrestlers, two veterans

Two love songs as you and I
with the same words in a cafe.

200251999-001.jpg picture by blueskyns1959I just want to say now that you are leaving
if that is love, you'll see love
you'll be living because of love.

What are you doing tonight
I phone, you're not home, says leave a message
but the recorder is so much faster than I
thus I never know what to say.

where are you, how are you
you're not there, where are you going
I am here, like you are
with this scare to love.

two minutes, two hours, forever
duelists in the sea of this town
where everyone needs love
exactly as we do........

where are you, how are you
two even if, you're not there
you and I, always or never
we are like we are
we exist as two.

You always write with such emotion and truthfulness to your words. I liked the way you added the pictures to paint the scenes a little clearer. This was a wonderful piece and the story is something i am sure most have experienced at some point in life.

I definitely think the photos distract from the poem. They don't really say anything that the poem doesn't say better. It does have a lyrical quality about it with the repetition of 'where are you, how are you'.

'two minutes, two hours, forever
duelists in the sea of this town
where everyone needs love
exactly as we do'

This was my favourite stanza. It sums up the rest of the poem well.

Well thought out. Direct and heartsick in it's points.

Really well done...although the first pic is so big that it kind of distracted for a moment.

Beautifully written, a love story being told and at times a little sad, great read

Very frantic and fast paced; the need for communication and love is evident throughout your story. It's so hard connecting when it seems like you are missing someone by mere seconds. The pics went well and helped move the tale. Very nice!

This is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. It seems as though it is supposed to feel kind of desolate since the narrator never knows where their love is, even though the love is strong enough that they know there is still love.

...at least that is how it seemed to me. And I don't know if my expression of how it made me feel was understandable but it is a wonderful write, a beautiful read, and I cannot wait to look at more of your work.

The well told urban love story that I don't think could have been told better. Very nice work

A very nice, well rounded modern love story with some really striking lines. You portray the urban scene very well and that is not lost on your reader. I also liked the photos that you added into this piece I really think that added something extra to the piece. Thank you for your request I really enjoyed it.

personally my own favorite parts are: where are you, how are you
I'll change, if you change
the two of us, we are alike
two wrestlers, two veterans

Two love songs as you and I
with the same words in a cafe.

and

where are you, how are you
two even if, you're not there
you and I, always or never
we are like we are
we exist as two.

A tender love story--It is obviously your niche, Nico. Very beautifully executed poem of this love that you long to be with...:-) Carole
