The Days of the Rainbow(father and daughter)

The Days of the Rainbow(father and daughter)

A Poem by Nico
"

the realization of a father that his little girl has grown up and that he must let go.

"

Those were the days of the rainbow
When the winter ended, the good weather came back
And you, with the moon and the stars in your eyes
Felt a hand touching your skin,

And while you went crazy for the scent of the flowers
The night was lit with a thousand colours.

You were lying, little girl, but you got up as a woman

You're stronger and safer, the adventure started
Now they're little girls, old friends
Who meet in a group to play
And still dream on a moon beam.

You live your life as an important woman
Because when you were sixteen, you already had a lover
And one day, you'll know that every woman is mature
At the right time and with the right measure.

And in your runaway you'll find love
You'll leave the past behind for better times,

Those were the days of the rainbow
Pictures of that chocolate covered mouth
Forever remain in my mind
Goodbye my little treasure
It's time to have your own rainbow.

"You'll leave the past behind for better times," good words for a growing/gorwn child.
"Pictures of that chocolate covered mouth
Forever remain in my mind"...they stay "little" to us, don't they?
this is a wonderful tribute to a child...lovely imagery and a nice even flow.

This one gets to me as I have a daughter...now 17. I especially like the last verse. It really does seem 5 minutes since she was a year old. Top marks from this dad.

This is interesting as it seems alot of your work is- it has strange almost dream like imagery though I feel the conversation is strange. an odd topic to discus between father and daughter and an even more imaginative way of saying it. Definitely interesting though i am not sure how i feel about it still a good work as you weave artistry into your work.

"Goodbye my little treasure
It's time to have your own rainbow."

What a beautiful poem, Nico. It is difficult for a dad to accept that his daughter has grown up....I saw it with my dad, and now I see it with my husband and his daughter, who is sixteen.

This is a such a nice poem.....a true pleasure to read.
