Down with the blues

Down with the blues

A Poem by Nick.B

Have you felt the pain,
of a dream that was never gained?

Drugs can't take me away this time,
seeing life once again as it was,
seeing the sadness inside their soul,
watching them as they roll,
into this abyss that the normal ones call home.

Standing here in the dark, looking at these drugs to spark,
no effect in the pill,
Here I go again, trying to climb that hill.

"Maybe I won't go crazy this time...
maybe I shall seek the love that was in my soul"
Thinking for a while, "this wasn't such a bad goal,
But if I will drown into madness once again?
the drugs doesn't work, so you got to feel my pain...."

Something that made me think...

"Mama's in the fact'ry
She ain't got no shoes
Daddy's in the alley
He's lookin' for fuse
I'm in the kitchen
With the tombstone blues. "

Nice, the flow of words's great. I loved the theme. If i'd something to tell you, "i'd say, "try to continue it" .. it's a cool piece" of emotions and love.

Here I go again, trying to climb that hill. -- this line resonated with me. I think that we are always trying to climb a hill of sorts in life...sometimes we get to the top only to realize that there is another hill beyond; we enjoy the summit for a while and then head off to conquer the next one. Life is an uphill battle, that is for sure, but there are times when things are beautiful and peaceful as well.

I liked this piece...had a definite lyrical flare to it, combined with a topic that was thought provoking.

The depression can be felt to the core of this piece...a lonely soul can harbor resentment and find comfort in other things (chemically altering the state of mind, is only a temporary fix).

I love the display of honest, heartfelt words....the questions lead to hope.
Well done. :)

Thank you, I appreciate it Robbie :D
Very great poem, captures the thoughts very nicely. I love the idea of third person narrative of the thoughts inside ones head, then the switch off to first person. Very good poem

Thanks I appreciate it, in the author notes it's an old Dylan song that made me think...thanks again.. read more
This is really fantastic, I think I enjoyed the author comments just as much as the poem, sometimes just riding the wave of someones melancholia can be suffocating, it takes the breath right out of you, dehabilitating at times, I'd never experienced anything quite like it before in such a strength, but I can relate very well from activities in the past year, I think we are all going through a metamorphosis of some sort.

:) you're welcome Nick
Great Poem, Nick. Things wear off after a while, even stones. But all we gotta do is stay and keep on living. Dreams arrive, and dreams leave, but it's important to have them travel along with us, no matter what they are. Set the goals so you have a path to follow. I love this poem. Great job

I've been spending enough time in the kitchen as of late to be totally engrossed by this statement of despondency...this one speaks to me on many levels, all of them deep and dark...love this piece.
