The Tea of Life(revised)

The Tea of Life(revised)

A Poem by Astro
"

Understanding, Meaning, Purpose

"

There upon his path of measured steps

The herbalist with bowed head surveys

The verdant floor and its craning flowers

For leaves divine, both potent and savory

Wisely he knows that even the fullest cup

Without taste, enticing note or remedy

Might just as well have been found empty

For what is a full life without its purpose?

The herbalist is content to stoop and crawl

He sniffs the air and tastes what he finds

But the herbalists search is not his purpose

No, simply his art that guides him carefully

Some of what he finds can cure the body

Other things will make it drop like the rain

Each thing in its place, made for a specific task

His raison d’etre, what he searches to find

Is the discovery of that one… fine… leaf…

That among all others, he just can’t live without.

' the discovery of that one… fine… leaf . . . '
Indeed ! When found, it's truly incredible.

Your thoughts bring a smile. : )

Even the smallest taste, its sensation, the possible or probable result, can change a mood, turn it inside out. There are plants, as with emotions, that can alter moments, attitudes. Equally., there are moments that give flavour to being. Life needs purpose, a mere hint, nudge, can point the way; magic or reality is somewhere - so sayeth the herbalist who's read the book.

WOW! So glad to see you back Mr. Astro. Title and poems are good. Herbs are really a good medicine and something that humans need and should enjoy. You write with clarity and accuracy sir.

I certainly have.
Herbs are away of life for me and the aromatic enticement some do give the sense that life is not as bad as it seems.

This is an unusual read, think the first time I've read one on herbalists, although I realize that's not the crux of this one. You have to dig deep here to get all the fine flavors it has to offer, we should all be that lucky to find that one fine leaf we can't live without and sustain that relationship. Tea for two sounds nice. As always an excellent read from your pen fine sir.

I love tea and indulge in herbs and natural organic remedies/aids. I take Andrew Lessmans products from the procaps website as we speak but I also enjoy the way you've turn your respect for health and tea into art and poetry. The subjects out of the normal or off the beaten path make the best scribes. Eclectic and engaging.
