Sorry to be a downer, but the pen follows the path of my emotions and presently, it is lost in the approach of a foreboding night, not for me but for those I love to contend with and it weighs upon me like concrete shoes and fever.

This is a perfect example of how effecting a poet's pen can be. Your words in this piece, took a firm seat on my shoulders.

The emotions expressed in this piece are permeating. But they are universal, we've all been there. And, you've penned them masterfully. The bit about Superman not being able to fly is quite stunning, it really drives the point home.

I am buried in its folds smothered;
suffocating, choking, my fire damp."
wow. i could feel you choking and breaking in this piece. each and every stanza offered an impeccable and truthful image of helplessness and constriction. a favorite lyric of mine says "there's beauty in the breakdown" and you have definitely done that here. you've taken your darkness, sadness, your breakdown and turned the words into something beautiful. i can only hope the wheel of the world will turn again in your favor...amazing work, keep writing out the sorrow
*hugs*

Is it something like you are timid of the night, that superman can't fly in the dark, but then why doesn't batman fly if he is a bat from the dark. Or is batman a beisball player that bats.

I am not "timid of the night" as you put it, I don't shy away from its weight, I simply tire of it being so heavy.

I don't see this as a "downer", I see this as the real, honest, art of life. Life isn't always beautiful, and it isn't always fun, but the true poet can turn the somber into something beautiful...as you have done here.
I'm sory you are feeling this way, and i would give you a hug if I could, but all that I can do is say that in writing out your thoughts and feelings you have touched another heart across the miles. :)
