Summers' Ball

Summers' Ball

A Poem by Astro
"

A description of the Super-Moon meeting the Summer Solstice in the sky.

"
A super fantastic transition delights
With outlines of silver upon indigo.
The firmament is a hanging curtain
Of beads offering luminous residue
Through its opal openings like pearl
Teardrops barely noticeable and lost
In the Arctic white of a Goddess full.

She towers in the night, powerful.
She holds the curtain of darkness
Like a cape of celebration worn
Over her marble lighthouse watch
To honor a new summer solstice.
A glowing smile penetrates the eyes
Lightening up the soul like laughter

Cresting concrete rooftops nearby
Crystal whiskers break the surface
Like a spun glass sea urchin rising
Up the steps of heaven, as music
Orchestrated in low notes of color
Is birthed into existence far below
The pale legs of a pregnant Moon.

The horizon dances into our mortal view
From every earthly perch and waking eye.
Windows become the fiery dance-floors
Where waltzing Gods footsteps do blaze.
Red spirals are offered like warm kisses
Upon the wind swept movements above,
While birds sing a cappella the 'Ode to Joy'.

A very descriptive piece with solid imagery made this a great read. I think its amazing how certain events can be described so well in words. A nice even tone and a delightful read.
Well done

some of the greatest personification i've read recently! descriptive writing is often hard to pull off without sounding cliche, but you've pulled it off wonderfully here- makes me want to see what you saw! great job

Astro, this was so cool. I watched this event from my pecan orchard listening to the melody of the night. Your poem captured the awe and wonder I believe anyone watching felt. Very cool my friend.

Thanks for the nice review. I am glad you enjoyed it!
It must have been a wonderful celebration! I love the imagery you've used here to describe something that (hopefully) we all had the pleasure of viewing; a true once in a lifetime event for many. Great emotion, nice flow, and the natural descriptors you've employed are quite nice. Overall, well done.
