Why Do We Fight?

Why Do We Fight?

A Poem by Astro
"

An end to petty differences, to wars, and misunderstandings.

"
mute your cannons
tether your wings
loosen your grip
let peace begin

just take a step
away from hate
hold to reason
discover fate

the kind that shines
blocking out fear
whispers of love
that beckon near

forgive your foes
teach each other
share great guidance
become lovers

see joy in life
through smiling eyes
full of hello's
never goodbye's

Astro, you can tell by the reviews of this fine poem that the instigators still roam the streets and as long as that is the case, no peace will be found. Your poem tells it like it is and I hear you, loud and clear my friend. Some people are so miserable in their own lives that they try and take others down with them. Some stand and some fall. Keep writing the peace my friend and hopefully someday all will hear.

Thanks Jack, hopefully my words will move like water and quench the fires that lay siege to reason.
some people are incapable of letting go of hatred and embracing diplomacy and peace. as long as they think and act this way there will never be forgiveness or peace.....maturity and unselfish love is required....pah! try telling that to a hard headed miscreant...misery loves company. excellent write, Astro.

Hope you find yours as well.
I can hear 'All we are saying is give peace a chance' playing in the background of your poetry...as long as people exist, I suppose this will continue on, it's been the way of the world for centuries unfortunately, there are no good solutions, people kill in the name of love and religion, so what does that tell you? I so do love the sentiment of your piece though....

This was extremely well said, Astro. I wish the world would take this eloquently written advice...and if not the world, perhaps just little sections of the world--you have to start somewhere. Thank you for opening eyes with your work. Truly enjoyed this one.
