Time and Time AgainA Poem by Nick JThe Drinker, lover, rebel, outcastThey
would confiscate his contraband like it was something he could afford, Time and time again. He didn’t need papers nor tobacco, he
could provide them when needed, Time and time again. He had his girls, blondes and brunettes
who called for his urge, Time and time again. He did not need the sufferers, nor the
crazy imbalanced nutters who called Time and time again. He’d asked each copper on the beat to
arrest him where he stood, But they refused to listen to a drunk scum
who abused his life- as if it was his own, Time and time again. So, he went home and looked at the photo
of his wife, as he did - a nightly routine. And sat and drank and listened to Hendrix, Pulled another cork and wallowed in self-pity, as always, Time and time again. © 2018 Nick J |
