Leaves

Leaves

A Poem by Nicholetta

Lush and beautiful once, now only a whisper on the wind.
Washing away with the tide, they float out to sea one by one.
Nothing remains but the skeleton from a time of long ago lost.
A Silhouette of yesterday's dream stands still to forever mourn.

Echoes remain of the laughter that once danced with the wind.
Drawing up to face their death, they slowly wither away.
The rain falls harder and muddy waters run deep
As the sun weeps silently behind the darkness within the clouds.

The wind howls blistering cold, forceful, and fierce.
Leaving bittersweet memories from a yesterday lost.
Every last breath is spent struggling while fighting for glory
The violent tide washes away whatever is to remain no more.

Waiting to return one day with great luster and brilliance,
Their vibrant colours all a glow, not a care in the world.
Searching for a place within the sky to bask upon grace's glory again.
The wind calls out their names once more, one by one...

summer leaves...double meaning...they scatter and wash out with the autumn tide...much like the cycle of life and death..Whitman-ish i think...

very nicely penned. i felt cold for a moment, but you brought back warmth at the end.

Eloquently elegiac.

In the cloud of loss, the silver lining of resurgent life.

Resurrection always occurs.

Grace IS, regardless of the fleeting appearances of life.

Good work.

I am truly sorry for your loss. This is a very moving piece as it touches a personal note for me as well. I too lost my father. We as a family also felt the devastation of feeling like our world and union shattered in an instant.
You have captured that emotion so well in this piece.
