One Year Yesterday

One Year Yesterday

A Poem by NicholeHemstock

One year yesterday.

How funny that I forgot.

Something so sadly pure,

Was something so easily bought.

Wagered with shaky hands

And given with no thought.

Finally I had the heart

For which I so long fought.

Nothing was as easily given,

Yet for so long heald.

I hung on to every word

In which your lips spelled.

Nothing feels quite the same.

You still have a part of me.

Luckily for you,

It's a part I no longer need.
