Art: What have we become?A Poem by NicholeHemstockJust my little rant on art and how people take advantage of the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
True forms art often goes unnoticed
And sometimes undefined Six million dollars For three painted lines? Not only is this rubbish It's pure show of class Spending millions of dollars On something that's pure trash. To whom is this art? Scribbles on a canvas, It must take them twenty minutes, Then they make out like a bandit, With some poor rich mans money, Who chose to waste his gift Instead of helping the poor, He wears hundreds on his wrist In the name of being "sophisticated" And from a higher class, Hiding the simple fact That he is really rather crass. And what about the artist, Who cannot value art? Playing a painting off as beauty Desperately lacking heart. Heart is what makes a painting Or writing, or craft. Without heart, the art is like the artist; Pointless and daft.
