Dust and Dark Coal

Dust and Dark Coal

A Poem by NicholeHemstock

So as though to speak through poetry

And to laugh in waves of words

A poet wrights through sorrows

And makes beauty from the dirt

Exhaling darkness in paragraphs

And lines of saddened rhyme

So a dream of evil spirits

Becomes a masterpiece in time

Tears of verbs and syllables

Slide tenderly down cheek

For the ones who write their sorrows

Are mistaken, at times,for weak

Through time spins endless pages

And whims with faceless faces

And lines and lines of poetry

Through vast placeless places

With each letter, emotion

Each dot of ink,a feeling

Every single ounce of courage

Goes into making meaning

Between the lines of scratchy ink

And spaces that lie slight and unseen

Are fears and terrors that lie in dreams

And darkness and demons with vile schemes

Where faith and hope let out sac screams

And marks of wonder are rarely seen

The colors swirl with halfway means

Where smiles and light become diseased

And the only moments that are seized

Are the few quiet seconds before tears are unleashed.

This is amazing Nichole. Creativity at it's peak. I read it a few times and it blows me away every time, helluva job. Psychedelic imagery. I like the title it's unique. But after reading it a few times another title came up "Eccentric dust" I'm not saying it's a better title. Your title is suits it perfectly. Well written.

Many reasons to write.

I liked the above statements. Great writers will test life, know emotion and be unafraid of life and challenge. The poem was very good. I liked the logic in the words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you so much! This means a lot to me!
Kinda dark, kinda depressing, and yet kinda hopeful. You amazed me, really. It's hard to write those three into one poem and actually make it work so well. And the last verse really drives this poem home. Awesome job

One of my favorite writes.. ever! Title's very good & I don't think, there could be a best title than the current one because, it's itself a "rhythmic" title... to me. I've come to know the value of poetry through this poem that.. how a poetry touches hearts... with the deep meaning of it. You've put your very hard-efforts to.. making this poem worth reading & it's all shown...
Keep it up. I must check out your few more stuffs.
