Words of an Angry Feminist

Words of an Angry Feminist

A Poem by NicholeHemstock
"

This will make all of you women who momentarily hate men feel pretty good. This is not what I'm all about, I don't hate men and I'm not a feminist, but I was angry and this is what happens.

"
And you see me as what?
An object? A pain?
Nothing more than an object-
For your personal gain?
An adolescent child
Who is afraid and naive?
Nothing more than someone
You can call when in need?
A something-not a who
That you could live without
Not even worth worrying about.

"So what if she leaves?
What would that mean?
Everyone knows
She is nothing to me!"

I'm just here out of ignorance,
Here for your convenience
Well I'm not staying and gratifying this existence!
Finally deciding I'm worth something more,
I've found a peace alone
That I've never had before.
After all this, why would I stall?
You helped me realize
I'm worth something after all.

society has beat into our heads a very sexist way of life. Women still have to fight to be heard and be taken seriously and writing about it is a great outlet and way of helping each other stand tall. That being said, I love your piece. It is very...I am woman, hear me roar! And I love that. Flows very well and the word choice is great! Keep it up girl. I'd recommend writing another piece like this when you get older to compare your thoughts...its great fun to see how things change. ;) much love fellow poetess

I tell people often. Freedom and respect is a constant battle. I taught my daughters. Never depend on a man's income. Make your own money. Women rights and human rights is a battle never to be defeated. Always a terror of a sort wanting to control. I liked your words. Can't allow anyone to downgrade a human life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and amazing poetry. Poetry should teach and inform.

Thanks! I'm actually thinking about taking this piece down, I've radically changed my view on femini.. read more
Actually thought you were talking about the husband in the beginning. From the feminist view of hating men but then I realized it was the other way around. I have many opinions but one truth; use love to solve all problems. I realize that's not always easy but it always works. The problem is when we don't love ourselves it makes it harder to love others. That's why we need the Lord to teach us.

Reminds me of "I Will Survive!" in that it finds strength and meaning in pain. So much better than playing the role of the victim!
