Black Like The Ashes

Black Like The Ashes

A Poem by Nichole Juliet Hemstock
"

I wrote this on June 1, 2009. It's been a while, but i still like this one. This selection has a lot of symbolism for me, it means a lot.

"
Black like the ashes that litter the floor,
Remains of what was, and nothing more,
I feel my soul slipping,
My skin no longer a barrier,
My heart is burned,
No longer my anger carrier.

White like the tears that fall from my eyes,
The sobs that rip the night, my hollow broken cries,
The fear in the shadows,
Full of dark hopes and despair
Doubts of your demons,
In denial they're there.

Red like the blood that runs from my veins,
The crimson that spills, the mark of my pains,
Nailed to a cross of lies, we are crucified by hypocrisy,
Sealed to deadened nerves,
Are the demons that follow me.

Some things are inevitable,
I've seen it before,
Black like the ashes,
That litter the floor.
