Tease Mawray - Not OftenA Story by Charles J. CarmodyThoughts, what ifs, just the other day, feeling lonelyTease Mawray " Not Often Not often, but once in a while during the course of your life you will see something out of the corner of your eye, perhaps just a blur in the background or you may hear a faint “something”. You're moving too fast while thinking of something else when your ‘glimpse’ occurs. Many times, if not for just a second or two, throughout your life you will consciously pause for no reason; sounds slowly fade away, and your sight becomes crystal clear in what appears to be ‘tunnel vision’. Something very special has made you pause; if only for that brief moment. You may exit that moment a little bewildered; realizing you don't know what has occurred. A rare and brief instance in your life in which your mind, your “other” has included you. Something out of the ordinary has occurred and you were invited by your sub-conscious to participate. Yet, what exactly has occurred, you do not know. Pausing, maybe taking a deep breath, you search your senses and again realize there is no recognizable smell, sound, or vision you can “associate “with your known experience. You are momentarily baffled until you regain your original thought and momentum. Suddenly, you quickly recall your original thoughts. Most people shrug these feelings, this vision, this wonderment off without another thought and continue on their merry way. However, there are those who realize instantly, if they continue on the path they are taking, their lives will be changed forever. This is a sub-conscious crossroads of sorts. On these very rare occasions, the mind lets you into the master plan. The mind, and however momentary, included you in its thinking process. Out of the blue, it asks you to make the choice. Through all your life, all your days, experiences, etc., your mind was supposed to get you to this place, at this particular moment in your evolution; and it has paused, your mind and you are supposed to be physically on that exact azimuth on the earth at that exact time in your/our evolution. This is one of ‘your’ ‘place holder’ in time. You have ‘glimpsed’ your destiny, and quite frankly feel, all the stars are aligned. Sometimes it is best to walk over to a bench, sit down, and look slowly around while using your senses to record every item. Doesn't it seem odd that everyone around you is in such a great hurry? They're not, you are just moving very slow, your mind is recording, and letting you watch. You don’t have to know why you are supposed to be here, but take as long as you must to try and find out by ‘taking it all in’. Remember, it is highly likely there were others around you or in your line of sight that were looking at you and including you and that moment in their ‘glimpse’ or destiny. You have been included for a reason; pay attention. Most will not! And most will miss very important times in their lives, extraordinary, one of a kind, personal milestones. Most will never learn to become ‘one’ with their consciousness. It is their personal one of a kind, unique consciousness; yet most will remain apart forever. The fortunate are ’aware’ and recognize these instances and associate them with very special, very personal, genuine life altering experiences. They embrace that which is new only to them. They know, ’just over there’ a moment ago they passed through a window in life. They glimpsed where they are and where they are going. It’s as if everything around them went into ‘slow motion’ mode and they mentally became invisible to all that existed around them. Sounds stopped, winds stopped, and for a split second you where oblivious to what you were looking at and that which observed you! Your body has slowed to a crawl, for no apparent reason you slowed to a stop; cautiously you look around for hints of what has occurred to make you stop moving. It’s not apparent that you don’t hear anything, or feel the wind. Your eyes are searching for something, anything. Your mind has told you to view all objects in that particular vicinity without passing through. For whatever reason your mind had to make sure you paused at that specific moment, your place in our universe. The ‘tumblers’ were in ‘sync’. You had not planned to do so; hence, it did it for you, without you. Many people realize at that moment there are two of you. You and your conscience are not one yet separated by distinct thought processes of varied degrees of symbiosis. Many believe it is your consciousness and you who move through time forever; in tandem waves of thought, syncing but not. You are recording the universe of your life and our lives. The body being only a vehicle for this moment; your conscious may ‘drift’ without you. You provide 'thought' with two things; consciousness, and time. Both mute without our species; just as the universe is mute to us, without us. Those who realize something has occurred are special and somehow have just a little ‘jump’ on millions of other humans in the evolutionary chain. A simple pause will do; however, you may slowly turn to see where you have been and smile. Perhaps it’s the small line on your brow which gives you away; for at these times you know you are alone and very special. One of a kind and although you are traveling with others, you remain separate and unique. These decisions are yours and yours alone. For seconds, the excitement can be overwhelming, and the butterflies in your stomach tickle to be set free. You will alter the rest of the universe with your next move, even more so than before. The rest of your life starts with a new perspective. Rest assured most people don’t see what you see, don’t hear what you hear; most can’t smell the scent of roses in quite the same way you have; you are one of the lucky ones! Most people don’t look for special moments. Most are oblivious to their existence and therefore don’t seek experiences. They lack the passion of the moment. The moment being hundreds of years, perhaps millions. You will recognize the ones who went on, who followed their passion. They are the ones you cannot keep up with; the ones who breathe life through their nostrils until their lungs burst. They are the ones hurrying to the next corner to see where the aroma of Italian food is coming from. They are the dark silhouettes standing in front of you amid fireworks; fighting to get just a little closer, and those who stand on a curb forever to catch a glimpse of a Chinese dancing dragon coming down a street, they are the 'touched' ones! They sip life as if dew falling on their tongues. They listen intently to sounds; and if you are standing close to them, sometimes, not often, you can hear them softly say, “hush”, I heard something! They may include you, and say "did you hear that?” You are the lucky one if you look back and smile because you are one of all of us, you are a kindred spirit traveling through life, our life. You have arrived at the same spot in time and in life you have both realized at that same instant it is a wonderful place to be. You are supposed to be there! For moments which require silence and pause are rare indeed, because only you can hear the sounds of your life. When the sounds of crashing waves from a distant beach finally reach you; a moment may pass while you smile to yourself and smell the scent of the sea. Know this, don’t tell all your secrets to me for others are listening for your whisper. Hush, did you hear something? Can you feel the love of others thinking of you? Do not let the fear of the unknown occupy my time. Weave the unknown into your trust with threads of excitement and patchworks of a unique life. You are the only one; your mind is mingled with all that is and all there will ever be. How can something so unique, something so special as to be one of a kind in the universe every leave? You cannot leave dear friend, for we will see each other again. Look for me and know the rest of those who love you dearly, will always be looking for you. I will be standing at the break in time, the cut in our fabric, I will be standing next to you; so look for me as I look for you, look across the rooms you enter, for I may be the one sitting in the far corner looking back, smile so I know it’s you, won’t you. All the best my friend, until tomorrow. © 2024 Charles J. CarmodyAuthor's Note
