The Lady and Her Gun

The Lady and Her Gun

A Poem by James Lee
"

More monologue, based on my own thoughts

"

I’m a young gun with a full life ahead of me

All the sheep and cattle run at me with their scrutiny

What makes me tick, there’s no prevalent theory

But the war in my soul is like a rogue pirate mutiny

I must be tamed, I know just who can do it.

A woman, a fair lady and she’s ready to commit

The aspirations of other boys don’t make her soul lit

She desires a pristine and simple man, as our holy lord writ

When she’s asked “Why him”? She always asserts…

“There’s something to him, his resolution, his hope for revolution,

and how he quests relentlessly for retribution.”

In conclusion, she loves my moxie and my hunger for creation.

You can’t stop our train from leaving the station

All my brothers, find your own companion

There’s all these other girls, the Charlottes and the Shannons

I kid, but it’s true. There’s plenty fish in the sea

Except for this one since she worked so hard to get to me

Till’ death do us part, is what she declared

So I won’t give up, not until we’ve given Charon the fare
