Tears

Tears

A Poem by Madonna Starr
"

Sometimes you just can't stop crying.

"

Tears are falling

and they haven't finished yet.

if HE keeps each tear that falls

how many jars have i filled today?

Smile as I may try

I walk by and pretend [I'm fine]

But deep down my soul is crying out

shouting!, screaming!, r   e   a   c   h   i   n   g

out to you, as only I don't know how

to let you know

that silently inside

my tears

they're falling.....

Help me now!

Save me soon!

For i know not how long i can hold on

I know not how true I can continue to be

As forever my tears

are

f

a

l

l

i

n

g

no sponge to absorb

no rags to wipe up

no heat to evaporate

as tears run

down

my

face

and now I wonder if

somehow, some waysome day

YOU can remove from me the pain I feel

show me something I could never find

give vision to these eyes of mine

which are o   p   e   n,

but blind

and hold me

for with life there is pain

and pain is pleasure

but if pain is pleasure

and life is pain

then doesn't that mean i should feel good?

rejoice in what has been brought upon me?

maybe not, since these things

in my mind could never be understood

just [lock them up]

and throw away the key

although

still deep inside my mind

is still screaming at me

I'll go on

and pretend [I'm fine]

as I continue to smile

while I walk along

a thousand miles

with my tears

still falling.

Beautiful.
This reminds me of living at home.
It reminds me of the times I smiled when on the inside I was screaming, wanting to tear my hair out.

It's not good to keep those emotions bottled up.
If you feel the need to cry, then you should do so.
Because eventually, when those emotions get too high, they will come out.
The only question is, how?
Will you simply cry or will your reaction to this emotional pain cause you to do something else possibly completely out of your character?

And that's a scary thought.

"but if pain is pleasure
and life is pain
then doesn't that mean i should feel good?
rejoice in what has been brought upon me?"

I love that because it says so much. So many people try to tell you to cheer up about the bad things that have happened saying it could be worse. But how can you feel good about the bad? It's an enigma, an oxymoron even, unless you're unusually twisted emotionally. I feel me talking through these words. Thank you again.

The tears just won't stop.
I like the way you put the words on the screen. It adds to that feeling of never ending and tears falling.
There's more pain of wondering why the tears are there than for what happened. That's kinda introspective like. Very emotional write. Nicely done.

Romantic rejection is a painful, emotional experience that generates negative emotions; including frustration, intense anger, and eventually, resignation and despair.

Your poem reminds me of a modern phenomenon sometimes referred to as 'falling upward'! This is where a person's yearning for a relationship with someone higher than themselves, with characteristics of physical attractiveness or prominence, clouds their judgement and leads them into a one-sided relationship. When someone falls in love with a person who has aspirations that are higher, that love is less likely to be reciprocated and inevitably ends in rejection.

It will all end in 'Tears' - a poignantly sad, but structurally creative write!
