New places got me like...

New places got me like...

A Poem by Jacob Baca

I'm here and I'm freaked,
the sun has sprung a leak.
I've upped and gone,
with weary song
the pain is in my feet.

I'm standing by the best,
supported by the less.
The wind went on,
and stole my song
the heat is in my chest.

I'm there and I've planned,
I've stomped down all the land.
Yet still no sound
and so I frown.
The wish is in my hands.

I've worked and I've fed,
I thought the breeze was dead.
But it whispered on,
so I sang along
the fear is in my head.
