As casual

as all those loose ties seemed

   at first ..

It was the loose associations

that she

then made, which collectively

tied her up in

cold bloodied knots and held

   her there fast

   

until the very end of her days ..

i heard a psychologist once say: we never really forget anything. you might not 'remember' but the impressions left by your experiences continue to affect how you think and feel. this theory is absolutely terrifying, and so is the poem. we are caught up and haunted by our past lives and have to endure them 'til our dying day. i have little doubt this is true. we might not remember everything, but the cold bloodied knots still tie us down.

All those loose casual ties that were part of my younger days now swamp my thoughts like I am caught in the world's biggest spider's Web and I fear its dinner time for someone, and that someone ain't me!
