A Few Things Wrong With the World Today

A Few Things Wrong With the World Today

A Poem by Neville

A Few Things Wrong With the World Today

Everyone is far too busy taking f*****g selfies, these days

to notice, or have any clue about what is going on in the world  ..

Most are not bothered that folk are still starving and dying

here and there and everywhere and that bombs are still dropping ..

Many seem to think that the world owes them a favour

and a bloody living too, when in truth, generally don’t deserve a thing ..

So many feel hard done by and want to be spoon fed, don’t they

and everyone is a victim and each crave compensation for nothing ..

Some complain about emoji’s that mean absolute zilch then they want

to break something and complain about history and change it ..

Such a selfish mentality prevails I cannot relate to it at all, dear lord

what is the world coming to .. I just hope there’s not another world war ..

I am with you Neville. I worry for my world. Soon, we shall have nuts in the Whitehouse in the USA. Our world need to become one. Freedom had cost a lot and some leaders forgot. Took many to keep our world safe and free. I assisted three times with United Nation missions. My unit in the Army. Send medical, food and water to Africa when President Clinton was President. We will see soon my friend. Better world or worst? Powerful and worthwhile thoughts shared.

I agree completely. Priorities need shifting, people need to recognize the importance of global issues and take responsibility for their actions, rather than indulging in selfish or petty concerns. There is such a lack of empathy or awareness in today's society. Scary, isn't it? Julie

that's thirty whole minutes isn't it .. but whose counting ..
The world is just being it's egoistic, greedy self. The earth is dying, homicide is an everyday thing and nuclear bombs stand ready and poised for destruction and all the while for millions of zombies it's business as usual on apps like instagram. Your poem expresses the bewilderment and despair of every thoughtful soul on this planet. I hope we have a planet in the not so distant future. Loved the poem!

It's great to be able to make a difference. You're most welcome, my friend.
It does make you question where all this madness will end. I find myself living in a world which now appears to be upside down and inside out. Where rapists can be let out of prison early to make way for someone who has offended others with a tweet. It is truly scary. Values seem to have changed completely. Work hard to pay for scroungers. I have no problem paying my taxes for the sick and vulnerable in society and am pleased to contribute. You have opened up a whole can of worms here Neville. Many feel the same way you do. Our leaders don’t. Your last line is chilling, but I have a feeling things aren’t going to end well. On that doom laden note, have a good Monday.

Absolutely chuck, onwards & upwards by St George :)
anger is good. let it out.
and i share many of your frustration with people around me. the blissful ignorance of the bourgeoisie, as they engage in shallow pleasures while willfully ignorant of the issues that they feel effect don't them.
such narcissism does not end well. there is going to be a reckoning. i only hope that level-headed people can step up and prevent this oncoming catastrophe.

just you take care my friend & always carry a spare lifejacket with you.
could read in the first line your anger.
Personally, I prefer to not know the majority of what is going on in the World,
unless it is something big.

There is no cure for the World,
the way that it is, now.

Nobody deserves anything,
except maybe basic human dignity,
which does not include a job.

And some just tut like they are to important to bother with words and think that's enough to participate in a conversation!
I mean I'm not blaming it all on snowflakes, but it mostly is and that's more than enough energy and time to waste on the only group of people that make hipsters sound fascinating!
Oh and BTW, I dare them to try cancelling me! What? I won't be able to use the Internet again? Sign me up!
And talking of people who should introduce themselves to the vacuum of space without a spacesuit, Trump can **** off too, and take Musk with him!
I'll stop there before I start to say what I mean Nev, but lastly....
